Jake Hunter Detective Chronicles Memories of The Past

One of the mystery visual novel game that I like. In Japan, Jake Hunter known as Detective Saburo Jinguji. It have many games platform. It started from disk system, family computer, Playstation Sega Saturn, Playstation, Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Playstation Portable, and Nintendo 3DS. I only can review the NDS game though, since I only played that one, and only that one which had been translated to English, most of the others are in Japanese. It's about a private eye detective named Jake Hunter, and his assistant, Yulia Marks. Jake Hunter office in Tripudio and Aspicio. Sometimes they have clients that wants a mystery to be solved, but another time, Jake's old and best friend named Kingsley, asked for his help.

Jake Hunter have many friends to help him investigate cases. He's calm, cool and composed like any other detectives. He's not exactly fond of dogs. His friend who would usually help him in lab investigation is Sam who often works for the police and knows Kingsley as well as Jake does. Everyone called him Mr. Hunter. Yulia called him Jake out of blue whenever they're in danger.

Jake Hunter have a quite good fighting styles, hook, straight and uppercut. It's a useful skill in being a detective. Another great skill of his is that he could threaten so well and people easily cracked. He even know that silence sometimes make people talk. He's also good at solving hard puzzles. Even though, sometimes Yulia helps him a lot when it comes to intelligence and language speaking. Jake cares a lot about Yulia and so is Jake to her. In some part, they leave hints where they might liked each other. When Jake's client is his old friend who used to be his ex, Yulia happens to found out Jake's unusual act and Jake also noticed Yulia have been asking a lot. Sometimes Jake's cases always involved in some street gangs.

...I don't believe this. Look, I realize you're just trying to look out for me, in your own macho, arrogant way... ...But I'm part of the Hunter Detective Agency just like you! I know what the risks are, and I accept them. Look, sir, it might be your name on the sign, but I'm just as much a part of this detective agency as you are. I've got my pride, just like you do, and I want to see this through to the end. And I... I worry... I worry about...
~Yulia Marks

Another Code: Two Memories/Trace Memory & Another Code: R - A Journey into Lost Memories

This CING game is also talking about the past too like Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Last Window: Hotel Cape West. But the difference is, that this is talking about past because they lost memories. They search for truth what really happened. Ashley Mizuki Robbins is Richard Robbins' daughter. She's looking for her father whom she thought supposed to be dead like her mom who passed away when she was 3 years old. She came to Blood Edward Island like her father ordered her, with her aunt, Jessica, and in there, she met a boy who called himself D, a ghost. Ashley happens to be one of the few people who can see D. D forgot his name so he called himself D. Ashley will discover the truth of Edward's family there and found her father.

The game's sequel is on Wii. Couldn't explain about this so much, since I didn't play it, but I watch the game through youtube, cause I don't have a Wii. In Another Code R, Ashley found more truths about her mother. She also met Matthew Crusoe who's searching for his father. This game took place in Lake Juliet. This game and the DS game are both RPG game so you can move it around, when you met events, you need to solve them, once you did, you proceed to the next room.

There are things that hinted to be connected to CING's other games. For example:
1. Ashley's parents name "Robbins" is similar to Robins hospital in Hotel Dusk: Room 215 which Kevin Woodward mentioned.
2. Ashley go to Blood Edward island with a boat accompanied by the captain. It was rumored that the captain is the husband of Rosa Fox in Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
3. Ashley's mother passed away but her father's still alive. Kyle's father passed away but his mother's still alive. Both killed by guns.

The sea was very calm, but my heart was a storm of emotion.
~Ashley Mizuki Robbins

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 & Last Window: Hotel Cape West

Hotel Dusk: Room 215. No! It's not about a horror! This story is about a mystery of what happened in the past that full of questions. There's no murder, but there are murderers in the story's past memories. And some more mysteries in every each character's backgrounds. They all are connected to each other. What you don't understand and what was not revealed in the end, was probably intended to let gamers interpret themselves about what happen and make a lot of fanfiction about it. It's about Kyle Hyde. Used to be a cop, but now a salesman who's looking for his partner whom betrays him. He works for Red Crown and was sent to Hotel Dusk under a request from client. On the way there, he met a girl. Who seems to be looking for something. Are you curious now? Once you play, you can't stop from it.

In Hotel Dusk story, all of the plot is talking about Bradley. And only revealed that his dad passed away when he was ten. But, in the sequel, Last Window: Hotel Cape West, his background revealed that he still have a mother. In the sequel, it's talking about his father case in the past when, who and how he was killed. For this one, you can also read the novel inside the game after you finished each chapters, the novel is made by Martin Summer, a character from Hotel Dusk: Room 215. There are many complicated truths that contradicts each other, leading to more questions. This is great game. And each of your action make changes in novel story plot.

This is when he used to be a cop. Cool guy isn't he? Yes he is. But he is also the greatest slacker on earth. Oh yeah, this game is from CING. The Last Window: Hotel Cape West is the last game CING developed. I loved this game and also Another Code: Two Memories/Trace Memory and Another Code: R - A Journey into Lost Memories. There are from CING. And they will always be interesting games to play, I don't know how many times I've played it. Maybe 3? 5? Oh don't miss this game.

Listen, I know this may sound weird, but sometimes folks lie out of... sadness. But when you lie, you usually get caught, and then you gotta pay. Even if you think a lie is helping, it usually ain't. Someday that person'll learn the truth, and you'll have to look him in the eye. You'll have to see the pain you caused, and that's a hard thing.
~Kyle Hyde

Touch Detective

An NDS game. It's a mystery game with a unique of story plot twist. The main character is a detective who have an agency in a town, she's young, have a partner named Funghi (Nameko). Cromwell (Jii) who takes care of her often helps in her investigations. I tends to call Cromwell the butler, since he looked like it. And if I'm not mistaken, it's also hinted that he isn't a human. Mackenzie (English name), Rina Ozawa (Japanese name) have two close friends, named Penelope (Manami) who seems to be a weirdo but very funny, and Chloe (Chitose) who seems to be Mackenzie's rival in investigating just because she doesn't want to lose. The other characters who are involved are introduced along with the plot. Some plot or most of the plot are full of extreme fantasy, so don't think much of it. And while you're investigating, if you're stuck, think about the weirdest thing ever.
In the 1/2 series, Mackenzie is not only faced by culprits, but the main antagonist of every story. The antagonist is called Cornstalker who targets something important and want to do something about it (or make problems). In the 1/2 series there's also a police woman Inspector Daria. And I have suspicion that Connor might be the real identity for Cornstalker, I still don't know though, I'm waiting for the Touch Detective 3. But too bad it's for 3DS it seems and it was released in 2013 only in Japan. Hmm... Will it be translated? This is one of the games that are from Atlus.

Hmm... here's the screenshot for Touch Detective 3. Let's see, I'm curious who's that blue kid. Who do you think is that? Mackenzie's brother? Sister? Long lost twin? Or just appeared rival? I'm curious to no end. Who is this kid? Who? Who? Oh yeah, it's a very interesting and enjoyable game, so just make sure not to miss this.

Everyone makes mistakes, but it's better than not doing anything at all.
~Chloe/Chitose

Shingeki No Kyojin/Attack on Titan

A story about people surrounded by walls. Living in fear of titans. I'm sure people have seen a lot of this review, so maybe this will be converted into a quick one. So when Eren, Mikasa and Armin was a kid, a collosal titan broke the wall entrance. Many titans entered the wall. One of them killed, err... one of them ate Eren's mother. Meanwhile, it was unknown about Eren's father whereabouts who happens to be in an adventure somewhere (or research).

Since then Eren, Mikasa and Armin decided to join the scouting legion and kill titans. Many of them are eaten, including Eren. Then everyone find out that Eren didn't die, because he could turn into titans. He protected Mikasa and destroy the titans. Later, Eren was in court. Whether he should be handed to survey corps with Rivaille like he wanted to, or to be handed to military police and get killed. Eren ends up being in the survey corps, and so are the others who followed him to survey corps later. In process of capturing female titan, many of Rivaille's squad died. And the female titan eventually ran away.
Soon, they doubt Annie. Armin pretend to ask for Annie's help to hide Eren until they are in safe place, while Jean disguised as Eren and pretend to be captured. It was an ambush for Annie. But she managed to turn to female titan and fought Eren. She lost and was frozen solid. In the manga, it was already told that the other titans who appears when Eren was a kid were Bertolt and Reiner as the collosal titan and armored titan. In the OVA, it was revealed that one of the Rivaille's squad escape because her city was attacked by titans. She ran as fast as her legs would carry her and keep writting her journal every details. And then, she met a titan lurking in the forest. The titan talks and it thought she was someone else. She kept writting her journal until her head was eaten and her body was put in a tree. Rivaille squad discover her journal, and Hanji Zoe make it as a proof that it's important to investigate titans more.
I don't know which option you should choose. I could never advise you on that... No matter what kind of wisdom dictates you the option you pick, no one will be able to tell if it's right or wrong until you arrive to some sort of outcome from your choice. The only thing we're allowed to do... is believe that we won't regret the choice we made.
~Rivaille

Steins Gate

I'm speechless of their poses, but oh well. Steins Gate. I'm also not sure at first what does it meant, but it actually meant something that the club member named. Probably means gate to the past or future. If you have headache problem, maybe I won't recommend this anime. Why? Because this story line is like, first even until the end, and it will go back from the end to the first event occurred. It's kinda confusing, but it's okay if you could handle it. Because many curiosity will appear in your head when you watch the anime, and you won't stop because of the curiousness.

I can't really tell much about the characters, because it will spoil every plot, so I guess I will tell the main thing. The mad scientist, Hooin Kyouma err... no sorry, he is Okabe "Okarin" Rintaro. One day he's invited to a place to hear about time machine. Turns out, because of that, he found a body with a pool of blood. Then he sent a D-mail for the first time, then all of the lecture about time machine was never happened because of it. Thus then, he began his long 3 weeks in pain, exhausting but interesting.

Mayuri Shiina, who's the only girl in the club at first, and she happens to be Okabe's childhood friend, which Okabe cares for her so much. But later, he recruit more girls into the group. The only boys are Okabe himself, the otaku and hacker called Itaru "Daru" Hashida and Ruka "Rukako" Urushibara. What? You only see 2 boys? Oh yeah. Rukako... is a trap. Be careful... (?)

No one knows what the future holds. That's why its potential is infinite.
~Okabe "Okarin" Rintaro

Dangan Ronpa

15 chosen student are invited to enroll into Kibougamine Academy, as known as Hope's Academy. They all have their own 'Super Duper High School' titles. There are Super Duper Highschool Otaku, Prefect, Luckster, Idol, Super Model, Scion, Bookworm, Programmer, and etc. They are all trapped in the Kibougamine Academy once they entered the school. The principal 'Monokuma' or 'Monobear' told them in order to graduate, they need to kill someone without no one knows.

And after that they should investigate the culprit and accuse him/her in the class trial. If they got it wrong, the murderer will be free and all of them shall be punished. If they got it right, the murderer should be punished. Interesting don't you think? And there are more several rules to that school.

Those several rules are something like, they should not break the security cameras, they shouldn't act violent toward the principal, they only can sleep in dormitory and etc. Just by hearing the rules, does it make your heart beating? You really need to watch this. The characters have different personality and perspective, which you can learn about it from game in free time. You know, the game will really be hard if you haven't watch the anime. The manga's plot is telling the murderer point of view more, maybe it won't be interesting if we had known who's the culprit, right? So it's better to play the game first, then watch the anime, then read the manga if you still wondering the mysteries inside you still don't understand.

It's more fun to play the game, if you watch the anime, you would be quite confused or something like that, because the anime's kinda forced the plot really fast. If you watch the anime you will be done in 30 minutes. But if you play the game, you won't be finished in 30 minutes, not until around 2 hours or so. Amazing right? I even got cramps in both hands or feet, due to playing like really long. I can't beat that Super Duper High School Gamer in Dangan Ronpa 2. You still want to hear my jaw? I talked a lot when it comes to something good. I really liked this anime. Seriously all otakus shall watch and play this. Oh yeah and some of the secrets will later be revealed, such as their Super Duper High School title actually not that but... something else. Curious aren't ya?
The main character named Naegi Makoto. Whew, such long talk and I just introduce the main character to you now, when I usually did it in the beginning of the post. He's the average of the average or so he self-proclaimed. And he was invited because he's Super Duper Highschool Luckster. The rest are called, Maizono Sayaka, Naegi's junior high school's schoolmate, Kuwata Leon, Kirigiri Kyouko, Touko Fukawa, Yashiro Hagakure, Celestia Ludenberg, Sakura Oogami, Mondo Oowada, Togami Byakuya, Ishimaru Kiyotaka, Chihiro Fujisaki, Aoi Asahina, Ikusaba Mukuro and Junko Enoshima. 1, 2, 3... wait... 16 students? Did I count it right? Or... hmph. Find it out yourself.

A hint is one thing, but simply sharing the answer it leads to is dangerous.
~Kirigiri Kyouko

Lucky Star

The main character who is an Otaku, named Konata Izumi. To be honest, they don't really laughed me much, kinda hard to understand exactly what is it to be laugh about. Just enjoy their unique and extreme daily days. Everyday they end it with a karaoke. Konata's main friends are Tsukasa Hiiragi and Kagami Hiiragi, who happens to be a twin but slightly different appearance. And also Miyuki Takara.

The other friends appear a bit longer and their climax is when they dance together in their last festival. Konata seems to be more Otaku than Tomoko in Watamote. Though they almost look like having the same addict and hobby that's watching anime and reading manga in their room everyday. But they have differences. Konata still can be said a lot better in social than Tomoko.

And yeah, the twin, Kagami and Tsukasa appearance and personality, quite looked like Kyou Fujibayashi and Ryou Fujibayashi from Clannad. Oh yeah, Konata is as short as Tomoko and probably have the same height like Tsumiki Miniwa from Acchi Kocchi. Too much reference? Like it or not? Because in this anime have many reference mentioned just like in Hayate No Gotoku and Gintama anime. Whoops... another reference...

If I got on the team and started playing sports... I'd miss all my prime time anime shows.
~Konata Izumi

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes

I don't quite understand why they take a photo with the enemies and the rivals. But oh well... This anime is... not really mystery. This is for detective fanatic and comedy addict. Milky Holmes, their group name, contains clumsy members, they are Sheryl Sherlock Shellingford, Hercule Elly Barton, Nero Yuzurizaki, and Cordelia Glauca. Their names are from the detectives in the past. And there's a team called Genius 4. They are Kokoro Akechi, Tsugiko Zenigata, Hirano Hasegawa, Saku Tooyama.

They have powers called Toys. They use it against their enemies. But the story plot tells that they lost the power, and have to retrieve their power back at any cost. Because they barely could do anything without their power. Because the enemies use Toys too.

This anime have a PSP game. Too bad it's in Japanese, I don't understand it. There are new characters there, a main protagonist boy and so on.
No matter how far you fall, you can still be the you that you strive to be. You can be the you that you want to be! Whether we're expelled or whatever, we can still be detectives. And if you ignore somebody you like when they're in trouble, that's bigger problem than being a detective! I don't want that. I don't want the people I love to be like that!
~Sherlock "Sheryl" Shellingford

Toradora!

Toradora actually means tiger and dragon, which represent Taiga Aisaka and Ryuji Takasu. Ryuji, a boy who have sharp eyes, and made everyone around misunderstand him and judge him to be scary and fearful, except for Yusaku Kitamura, his best friend. Along with the peaceful plot in ordinary life of highschool, Ryuji happens to twist it all with a single bump to a girl named Taiga. Taiga rumored to be quick tempered, and she thought that anyone would mess with her except for Minori, her close friend. And this simple 'bump' leads them to where they got in relationship.
Ami Kawashima is Yusaku's childhood friend. She seems to be very well polite and friendly in front of most of people. But once you get to know her, she's really a rude and harsh girl you will ever see. Yusaku likes Taiga, but she rejected him, and somehow Taiga thought it was a mistake, and she go after Yusaku because she thought she likes him. But this time Yusaku refused, as he see the progress of how she and Ryuji get along so well and they liked each other. While Minori and Ami happens to have some feelings for Ryuji too.

I don't really like the ending very much, but the plot where Taiga and Ryuuji need to be apart before they get together again is good.

...Crying is a nosebleed of the heart. If you trip while running down a hallway, you'll get a nosebleed. If you trip in life, you'll cry...
~Minori Kushieda

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo

The main character named Kanda Sorata. He's a guy who often take cares of stranded cats who doesn't have owner, thus made him transferred to a dorm called Sakurasou, the only dorm who allowed pets. He promised to himself, that after he's done with finding the owner for the cats, he will back to his own dorm that's not really deserted and one that he thought might be better than Sakurasou at first.

The residence there are Kamiigusa Misaki and Jin Mitaka as senior. Their teacher named Chihiro Sengoku. Then Kanda Sorata, Akasaka Ryunosuke, Nanami Aoyama and Mashiro Shiina the newest person who transferred there. The second main character is Mashiro Shiina, a genius, a painter who gave up and transferred there just to make a manga. Her genius later make Kanda motivated to follow his dreams and supported by Akasaka Ryunosuke, but it also make him real frustrated about why it always Mashiro Shiina? Why he always fail? Why only geniuses like Mashiro can deal with all of it? He thought it's not fair. Thus make Mashiro Shiina thought she's the cause to Sorata's stress and thought about going back painting out of Japan.
There's also some stories that tells about Kanda and Mashiro romance, Misaki and Jin romance, and Nanami dreams and romance between Ryunosuke the hikkimori with Rita, Mashiro's friend in painting.
Because you've been really mad lately. I wanted to talk to you so much. But you looked so mad. I didn't want that, I thought about what to do. About what would make you happy... About how could you have fun...  But I didn't know. I... this is all I could do.
~Mashiro Shiina

La storia della Arcana Famiglia

Arcana Famiglia is an organization who defeat the bad guys and people who have Arcana power. The organization also is a family to each other, even though some are not related by blood, only Felicita and their parents. Arcana Famiglia face many tough quests, and suspecting each other. Even so, they will eventually get back along again in the end.
The members are, Felicita's father, the leader, Felicita's mother, the vice-leader, Felicita herself, Liberta, Nova, Debito, Pace, Luca, Dante and Jolly. They all have special abilities (Arcana Powers) which you shall find out yourself while watching this anime or reading the manga or playing the game.

Liberta is really polite and show so much care to Felicita, more like he actually love her. Nova is Felicita's childhood friend, so Nova never call her "Ojou-sama" like Liberta does, she call her "Fel" instead, and no one except Nova call her that. Liberta and Nova used to fight whenever they are in an argument (mostly when Felicita is there). And oh yeah, each member have their Arcana symbols somewhere on their body.

I want to choose my own way.
~Felicita

Nichijou

Are you depressed? Can't smile? Can't laugh? Watch this anime. If you still can't after watching this, you have some serious problems. This anime is great for the hilarious, funny, silliness, and ridiculous. You might wonder where these characters are from, they're weird. There are Yuuko Aioi, Mio Naganohara, and Mai Minakami. It mostly the three of them who make the audience have laughing overdose. This story is similar to Danshi Kokousei no Nichijou. Only this is the girl version.

Besides them, there are also Hakase (a professor in such a young age), Sakamoto (a cat), Nano (Hakase's robot invention). Nano takes care of Hakase, which later join Yuuko, Mio and Mai's school and play together. The ridiculous somehow increase, they're all are extraordinary people. The minor characters, like the classmates or the teachers...  they're all also have a weird appearances or personalities.

Some said this anime is really funny (including me), but there's also a friend of mine who don't like the way of this anime's art, he said it was not really good, but I think it's cute, especially Hakase or maybe Nano.

Faith? We're not friends. So don't go saying things like whether we have "Faith" or not. Best friends like us don't need words.
~Mai Minakami

Date a Live

This is a perfect harem story plot. A boy named Shido Itsuka who supposed to be a normal highschool boy suddenly have to involved in some kind of organization which the boss is his sister, Kotori Itsuka. Kotori ordered her brother to calm the spirits who looks like normal humans to stop from making earthquakes on Earth. And so, the harem plot begin, where Shido have to make each of the spirits (which are girls) to fall in love with him.

Once the spirits fall in love with him and kissed him, they will lose their powers and lived as a regular girl. But there's also time where they are forced to be care and protect Shido, at that time, they could bring half of their powers back. In the end, Kotori Itsuka, Shido's sister, happens to be one of the spirits too, which Origami Tobichi accused as her parents murderer.
Did you know? For some reason each of the spirits have different personality. Kotori is Kuudere, Tohka is Tsundere, Yoshino is Dandere, and Kurumi is Yandere. Coincidence? Anyway, this anime season 1 didn't have the girl character with pink hair, it seems to only appears in visual novel and game. And they said, she will appear in 2nd season.
I came here to talk to you. I don't care what we talk about. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if you ignore me. But... there's one thing I want you to know... that I-I won't reject you. (I won't let you make that face)
~Shido Itsuka

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru

Or Oregairu for short. This anime is about a highschool boy named Hikigaya Hachiman, an anti-social and isolated. He never thinks like usual people do, he thinks very deep like a thoughtful person. In the story, he is destinied by his teacher to do social, and forced him to join a club that helps people problem. The members fate are similar like Hikigaya, not really accepted in social due to their personality.

Through out the story, they found informations and learned from other people. Even though, Hikigaya actually never changed his logic, but at least through this, he understand bit by bit, that people need each other, and can't possibly do everything alone. It's not also a bad thing to work alone when other people never cooperate with you very well, or not even think of you as one of them, you shouldn't try so hard to fit in, just accept the way it is.

In the end, Hikigaya finally adapt himself and get along with others (or at least he tried to...). He doesn't care about those who don't accept him, and just be normal when someone accept him (or even accept too much like Yuigahama who would go as far as nicknamed him "Hikki" which Hikigaya don't like to be called, but later, he doesn't comment on it anymore).

When people judge somebody, it becomes a fixed idea and an impression that lasts. A loner is forced to stay a loner.
~Hikigaya Hachiman

Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai

Or Oreimo for short. It means my little sister couldn't be this kawaii. The plot is about a boy named Kyosuke Kosaka who didn't have a good relationshiip with his sister, Kirino, due to some past, but later showed that they have great bonds. It starts with Kirino's problem and she needs a help with her life. She's an Otaku and love ero games, but she don't have anyone to talk to about it at school. So then Kyosuke help her make some friends in social group who have the same addiction. So then she ends up having friends.

Afterwards, Kirino's faced to more serious problem being to addicted. Her friend, Ayase Aragaki, totally don't agree with Kirino's addiction and Kyosuke go through as something stupid, that make Ayase less disagree and her relationship with Kirino back again. The episodes show the brother and sister love for each other. Which they expressed like they don't want each other to have boyfriend or girlfriend so much.

And there's a time where Kuroneko, Ayase, and Manami are close to Kirino, but Kirino who expressed Tsundere doesn't care, actually care and don't want her brother to be with any girl, she hates it. There's also a time where Kirino must go abroad, but then Kyosuke couldn't stand it and go for her then bring her back.

Having someone to lean on is an amazing thing. Some things that can't be done alone can be achieved with the courage of two. And in times when you try your hardest and still can't make it work. When it's tough you're ready to cry... if you have someone there to support you, you can make it through. The smallest words of support can save you.
~Gokou Ruri

Soul Eater

It's about meisters/technicians and their weapons. The weapons eat evil soul until 100 to become death scythe weapon. The main characters are Maka (Meister) and Soul (Weapon), Black Star (Meister) and Tsubaki Nakatsukasa (Weapon), Death the Kid (Meister) and Liz & Patty (Weapons). All of them have their own background story that will be explained through the story progress.

All of them go to Shibusen school in Death City. In there they are thought lessons about meister and weapon technique, tips and bonds. The antagonists of this anime is trying to destroy Shibusen, they're trying to awake more powerful antagonist that's right below Shibusen's school. The antagonists main reason to do this is to defeat Kid's father too, the headmaster. So that, they don't have anything else to fear about.

They are many awesome and cool actions in this anime. And the friendship bonds are truly great that they learn many things. Their teachers are on their side, helping their way to defeat the main antagonist. It was said that the anime and the manga story of this is different. Many people love the manga ending better.

Don't you think it's important to understand your friends? It's only natural there are certain things about other people you won't understand. Even so, friends are friends. Is it wrong to feel that way?
