Or Anohana for short. If you're looking for sad stories, you're in the right place. This is about a girl named Meiko "Menma" Honma who died when she's still a kid. 10 years later, her friends who used to get along with each other, started to ignore and don't care about each other problems. They blame themselves for Menma's death. Menma who's only visible to Jintan's eyes, doesn't want to see her friends fight. Thus, Jinta began to wonder, Menma's not his crazy illusion.
As time goes by, Jintan began to wonder why only him who can see Menma. Menma said that there's something she wish from Jinta to be granted before her death. But, Jinta can't do this alone, therefore asks help from his friend. At first, his friend don't believe what Jinta said except Popo. They all reluctant to believe Jinta could see Menma. But later, they believe so due to several proofs Menma did (writting messages in notebook). After her wish granted, Menma will disappear and say goodbye to his friend.
Menma wrote the saddest thing as goodbye messages. Her friends begans to cry, especially Jintan. At the end, finally all of her friends could see her for a brief moment, and disappear. Menma want to be friends until the end. So, they did. Afterwards, Menma's friends life began to change slowly. (Jinta go to school and don't skip it and such.)
I'll never dream about things that I know won't come true.
